So Little Time

Buzzin's

Time Time Time!  We all have to deal with the judicious spending of our precious 24 hours each day.  Family. Work.  Me Time. Let's  jump straight to the Me Time thing.  Most of us feel so guilty taking  Me Time.  GET OVER IT!  It is very necessary/important.  Me Time is what keeps us going, grounded, focused. Part of your Me Time is the exercise...yes exercise/activity!  You can't take care of your responsibilities unless you are healthy, fit,  and ready.  Healthy eating and exercise should be part of your day.  If you are like me I always thought, "I don't have time or money to go to the gym so I guess I won't do anything!"  Holy Moly! That was an excuse.  I found there are a zillion other things that will fill that spot and get us fitter than we are right now and that don't require extra anything.  And easy too. Hold the Presses: Seriously?  YUP!  In only 10 minutes you can do yourself some real good!  A study showed that people who  got 72 minutes a week (10 minutes a day) exercise improved their fitness level more than those who worked out longer...how about them healthy apples???  And you know you have 10 minutes. While you are on the phone, stuck at the airport, shopping, watching TV.  NOTE: All movement counts.  Now is the time to use the tools you have available to help you and make it more fun.  E-tools (Fitness Tab has 10 minute workouts and videos), ActiveLink (Now that is really fun!  You can see your progress and set our own goals. It is awesome!  Learn more by clicking on the link below) Pedometer.  Or just use our head to come up with something that will fit YOUR lifestyle and that you WILL do...both are key in all this. Make this the week you get in 10 minutes a day.  It doesn't have to be the same thing, every day is different.  JUST DO!!! (to quote Yoda)

Me Again...

Buzzin's

Me again...I am seriously trying to get back on a schedule.  I think about it all the time.  I am hoping to get back to work on October 15th.  I will not be leading meetings anymore, but I will be doing Drop In Hours  M-Tu-Wed at the Broken Arrow Store and receptionist for the Saturday meetings at Highland.  (Only the Tulsa people will understand that, but it's info I needed to get out)  I have lead meetings for 11 years and it is really hard to think I won't be ding it any more.

However, change is a good thing.  Just like our weight loss journey...nothing stays the same for ever and we wouldn't want it too.  How dull!  When you see something is not working on your Plan, time to change.  Can't do the exercise you have always done?  Find something new.  Weight loss come to a slow halt?  Check your tracker (YES!  Your tracker...one of your most valuable tools!)  What has changed since the days of losing?  What  needs to change to get back to that?  Once you decide to make a lifestyle change and eat healthier and exercise more, etc, you have given up the luxury of NOT thinking about what you are eating and doing.  Seriously, if your are really serious it has to be.  But if you are really serious you will want to do it and it won't be a problem.  You will be courting SUCCESS and loving it.

Remember this:  It takes TIME!  I have certainly learned that this Summer.  Healing, losing weight, making a lifestyle change...takes time my friends!  And you have to be AWARE:

A-bolish negative thoughts
W-atch yourself change
A-ccept help
R-esolve to hang in there
E-xpect SUCCESS!

T*A*I*S!

Nana WHO?

Buzzin's

Mia Culpa...Mia Culpa...Mia Culpa!  Or as my granddaughter would say "my bad...". I apologize for the long span between posts.  But here I am... It's me...Nana Jean...trying to survive the Summer of 2012. .  Read on if you dare...Seriously...

Most of you know that I have had 7 surgeries on my back before this Summer.  Well now I can add one neck surgery and another back surgery.  I am recovering but at a much slower pace than I would like. My  Dr says "Patience Jean...oh, wait.  Look who I'm talking to...but give it a try will you please?"  Such a card, that man!

I am trying to make the most of the down time.  Learning things about myself...mostly about my WW journey.  After doing this for 10 years you would think I'd have it down pat...NOPE! As I am always telling you it is a constantly changing path.  What worked for me 10 years ago no longer works, so I have to change it up to keep the weight OFF and keep it interesting so I hang in there. Once we make the decision to lose the weight and more importantly KEEP it off we have given up the luxury of never having to think about what we eat again.  It's that simple.  So we have to keep it interesting with new recipes, new foods and dare I say gadgets???  So this summer I have made some really weird new recipes.  Some good and  some only I would eat...Jim does draw the line sometimes!  I will try to get them together and share them.  My biggest problem was the discovery of a clot in my leg after this last surgery.  I am on blood thinning therapy for the next 3-6 months and that means NO LEAFY GREENS!  HUH???  That's what I live on!  But the Vitamin K in Leafy greens negate the work of the meds.  So now I have to find other stuff.  Not a huge problem but I LOVE leafy greens.  See what I mean?  Ever changing path!  But sooooo worth it.

I think I have written enough.  I will try to get back to reasonable update schedule.  Thanks for your patience...uh, got any extra you can send my way?:-)  T*A*I*S!

Move it-Move it-Lose it!

Buzzin's

Summer is a wonderful time to get with family for reunions and vacations. But is also a great time to  get in healthty putside sunshine activity...like gardening, walking with the family, swimming, and don't forget all the activity that gets done on vacation!  The point is that you don't forsake your activity. Everything you do standing on your 2 feet is activity. Really!  Some is your every day life stuff but that counts too.  Above that is a PLUS!  Here are a couple of things to remember about your activity:

1.  If you are a member of Weight Watchers and making a lifestyle change remember it is just that...a change in your life for the REST of your life.  Don't start something now that you are not willing to do from now on!

2.  Pick something you  like to do.  And even change it up from time to time.

3.  Don't obsess about it!  Jeez!  It's like the eating part of our lifestyle change.  Do the best you can and learn from your not so successful days.  Trying to be perfect just gives you license to chuck it if you are not...and most of us are NOT!  God only asks us for our best....who are we to ask for more?  Hmmmm????  Think about that one.

4.  Be consistent as much as you can.  Set aside time to be active.  Yes you have time!  You just have to admit that it is important. You are important.  And don't you forget it!

So there are you are.  Think about it and make a plan for this week.  Make it reasonable.  Make it something you can and will do.  If you don't enjoy it,  do something else.  But DO SOMETHING!  T*A*I*S!

Personal Note: I use the word think a lot.  That's what this is all about.  Thinking about what we are doing.  We have given up the luxury of NOT thinking about what we are doing if we are serious about our lifestyle change.  End-O-Sermon... >^.^<
