Menu-Schmenu!

Buzzin's

Reading a menu can cause a headache if you aren't savvy about the "codes" they use. Some are obvious...creamed, sauteed,au gratin, etc. But did you think about boiled? Boiled in what? At home we know that means boiled in water only. But at a restaurant it might mean boiled with butter or with a ham hock. Grilled at home means dry grilled. At a restaurant could mean in oil or butter. Granted, grilled chicken is probably going to be less PPVs than fried, but we want to make our decision's on ordering using the best information we can get so what do we do? Ask for help! Tell them what you want. Ask your Wait Person what the item is grilled/boiled/sauteed in. Then make your decision. Simple as that. YOU are in charge of your Weight Loss Journey and that starts with taking ownership of what is happening. It's your responsibility to know what is in your food so you can track correctly. Are you ready to de-code the menu at your favorite restaurant? Of course you are...so get out there and tell 'em what you want so you can enjoy your meal and know you are ON PLAN!

Interesting Stuff:

Most of us LOVE popcorn. Here is some great info on the white fluffy stuff:

Happy St.Valentine's Day!

Buzzin's

Happy St. Valentine's Day! Hope you are enjoying the day and week. How about giving yourself a great useful gift...
T*R*A*C*K*I*N*G. Ever think about it as a gift? It is. According to Webster tracking means following a path...leading to a goal...(I added that last part!) But with out tracking you don't know where you are. Think of it as your GPS. Shows you where you are and where you want to go. That's us. On the road to OUR goal. The whole idea of having a DPT is to stay with-in it to lose weight and get to our goal. YEAH! Now that's what I'm talking about! So give yourself a great gift...track yourself to GOAL!

Interesting Stuff:

I love Cajun food and Mardi Gras...check this out!

POWER sez it all...

Buzzin's

There is Power in food if you use it as a tool. If YOU are in control. The POWER FOODS do just that...put you in better control of your hunger. And that is what will get you to your goal and keep you there. Power foods are always your healthiest choice and usually you get more food for fewerPPVs. YEAH! I'm not saying you will be able to leap tall buildings with a single bound. But you are going to be making healthier choices AND be satisfyed longer. And isn't satiety important to us eaters? The faster we get satisfied the better off we are. I challenge you this week to concentrate on Power Foods and see what Super Powers they have for you!

Interesting Stuff: Start on page 39...POWER!

This is the coolest cookbook. Hey! I heard that thought...I don't need another cookbook...
and I might agree with you any other time. But this one is different. It has great easy recipes that have regular ingredients. I have already made the Kentucky Hot Brown sandwiches and the Smoky Clam Chowder. And a friend made the Chocolate Chip Coffee Cake. All 3 are awesome! Next I am trying the Coconut Shrimp...2 PPVs per serving. YUMMO!!! Check it out at your meeting...only $9.95!

Practice makes it...

Buzzin's

I received this from Denise...(Thanx Denise!)...and I really felt it worth passing on. It talks about the things I deem important. Hanging in there,

feeling we are worth the effort, and actually making lifestyle changes. Author is unknown.

"Remember when your parents or grandparents used to tell you 'Practice makes perfect.' ?
Maybe it's not perfection you are seeking, but no matter what you are looking to change,
pactice really is the key to making it stick.

Bad habits do not instantly become part of yor daily life. Any habit, whether bad or good, is a habit
because you practiced and practiced and practiced until it became second nature. It's no wonder trying to change
a behavior is difficult.

The next time you are staring at the vending machine, or facing aisles and aisles of unhealthy food in the grocery store,
think about this: Making the right choice takes practice. It's not easy. It even feels off at first, like a former tobacco user
feeling lost without a cigarette. But anyone who has changed and not just survived, but succeeded, will tell you it's worth it.
YOU ARE WORTH IT! And once you practice and pratice a good habit it too will become second nature and will no longer
be the struggle it might be today.

Hang in there, whatever it is you're hoping to accomplish in 2012. Don't give up! We won't give up on you!"
